Proximity-Aware Energy Saving Design
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project uses a low cost infrared proximity sensor and the Phiget Interface Kit to monitor the presence of people around a computer monitor. Based on that information, a program running on the computer can decide if the monitor and other electrical appliances (table lamp) should be turned off to save energy.
The software code and instructions on how to set up a similar system can be found on the Interaction Lab's software Cookbook.
