Phidget Planetarium is mini-planetarium. As someone passes their hand over the four silver stars on the control panel, constellations are projected onto the ceiling and information about the constellations is displayed on the monitor.
At the heart of the projector (left picture) is a bulb in a tin can (which acts as a projector) and a rotating platform that has cutouts of various constellations. A Servo Motor rotates the platform so the correct constellation is projected. The touch panel comprises four light sensors connected to an interface kit, where the servo motor rotation depends on which light sensor is covered.
